The Beauty Essentials | 'Holidays Blues' #2

11 September 2013

When it came to packing for my holiday I can admit I slightly over packed. Over packed to the point that my skin and hair care essentials had to go in Sam's suitcase as I had exceeded my limit. Sorry Sam. I don't know what came over me but I had an urge to take every mini product I had with the intention of using them all up. Here's the products which were my main 'go to's' throughout the holiday...

Skincare - These products really did help my skin throughout the holiday. Despite the smell I love the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for the dry patches I got from the sun, mostly on my knees and elbows! A few annoying spots appeared whilst away but using Origins Super Spot Remover really helped dry them out and they had nearly disappeared within a few days. Result. Sam even kept asking to use this product whilst we was at the airport! Even though I had been using COOLA Face SPF, towards the end of the holiday I noticed my face was getting dry under my eyes and around my nose, to help keep my face moisturised I applied Sanctuary Spa Illuminating Moisture Lotion. Other products I used to keep my face clear from future blemish's and help keep my face glowing and radiant was the La Roche-Posay Effaclar DuoNSpa Brightening Day Cream, and Anatomicals Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz.

Haircare - This was kept really simple throughout the week. I did pack my curling wand but didn't end up using them as we were always so rushed of an evening, it was a fight between the both of us to use the bathroom (Sam loves a good stare at himself in a mirror) and it was usually too hot to be 'faffing' around with more heat. So instead I used the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray alongside L'oreal Studio Mat and Messy Shine-Free Salt Spray. These together gave my hair great volume and texture without feeling tacky. During the day I kept Bamboo Style Tousled Texture Mist in my beach bag just give my hair some added texture once I had got out of the pool or sea.

Make Up - These picks were also minimal. I didn't apply any makeup in the day as were just lazing my the pool most of the time. For a tint of colour on the lips and also to keep them protected from the sun I took Maybelline Baby Lips in my beach bag to apply when my lips were feeling dry. At an evening I missed out foundation and went straight to bronzing my face further with Bourjois Paris Maxi Delight Bronzer followed by Soap & Glory Love at First Blush, they were a great combination to give my cheeks a tanned glow. For an extra sweep of highlight I added Benefit High Beam on the tops of my cheekbones, along my nose and on my cupids bow. On the lips during the evening I alternated between them. Whilst I was out there I counted thirteen lip products I had taken! Obviously I had gone overboard and didn't use them all.

Fragrance - I took Diesel Loverdose away with me as I love the scent. I wouldn't say it's a very summery fragrance but it ticked the long-lasting box for me!

So they were my main beauty essentials that I used whilst I was away. Don't forget to read tomorrow's post where I will be sharing my evening outfits with you.

Have you been away this summer? What were your beauty essentials?
